Furnace Creek Landfill
Death Valley, California

The Furnace Creek Landfill Closure Project included closure of 20 acres of landfill which has been in operation from 1976 until 1996. Municipal solid waste, construction, and demolition debris from residents and visitors of Death Valley National Park were accepted at the landfill. As a sub-contractor to HLA, GFA prepared and reviewed landfill closure plans and specifications. During the closure of the site, construction monitoring and contract administration services were offered. GFA worked with federal and state regulatory agencies to obtain permits.
